01
Voice commands
Apple’s on-device speech recognition, so your eyes stay on the floor. Audio never leaves the iPad.
- Passes by jersey number, or “team”.
- Incomplete pass, turnover, steal, interception.
- Start and stop the clock.
- Timeouts — full, 30-second, and the opponent’s.
- Jump ball.
- Set calls by name — offensive, defensive and inbound.
- “Foul” or “deflection” opens a picker, then you say the number.
- Context-aware. A bare number does the right thing for the screen you are on: passes the ball, subs a player, or picks the rebounder, blocker, fouler or assister.
- A live banner confirms each command and flags anything it could not match.
02
Shot charting
Tap exactly where the shot went up. Everything the app knows about shot quality is built on that one tap being accurate.
- Tap-to-place on a half-court diagram, stored at the exact spot and classified into one of eleven zones.
- Shot type. Jump shot, layup, floater, dunk, hook, free throw.
- A guided flow captures assists, blocks, rebounds and and-one fouls in one sequence.
- Smart assist detection pre-selects the last player who passed to the shooter.
- Eleven zones. Five three-point zones (corners, wings, top of key), five two-point zones (layup, lane, key, left, right), and free throws.
- Zones roll up into layup, mid-range two, corner three, wing and top three, and free throw.
- Percentage overlays — green at forty per cent or better, red below.
- Filter by period, team or individual player.
03
Shot quality, graded per player
A corner three is a good shot for the player who makes 40 per cent of them and a bad one for the player who makes 20. The app grades every shot against that shooter’s own profile, not a league average.
- Every shot graded good, marginal or bad.
- Layups are always good.
- Everything else is judged against the shooter’s expected points per attempt in that zone.
- Thresholds you set, per team and per season.
- Points lost to bad shots, as a number, for the game and the season.
- Points per attempt by zone, comparing tonight, the season so far and your own estimate on one axis, with confidence intervals.
04
Building each player’s shooting profile
Grading shots against a player’s own numbers means the app needs those numbers before the season has produced them. There are four ways to get them in.
- Tap a court to set an expected percentage for each zone.
- Spreadsheet-style tables of field-goal percentage and attempts, if you would rather type.
- Scan a screenshot to fill the tables, with unfilled cells highlighted for review.
- Printable bubble sheets. One sheet per player, filled in by players or assistants, then scanned back. A QR code on each block matches it to the right team and player automatically.
- A team baseline covers anyone without their own estimates yet.
05
Ball tracking
- Follows the ball handler pass by pass, for both teams.
- Passes attempted, completed and received, with completion percentage.
- Ball-handler time — how long each player actually had it.
06
Possessions and key metrics
The possession is the unit basketball is actually played in, and most stat apps do not count them at all.
- Automatic possession tracking and possession-arrow management.
- Possession Flow. A color-coded block for every possession showing the outcome, points, sets called and shot quality.
- Possessions and points per possession, for both teams.
- Second-chance opportunities and points.
- Offensive rebounds per 100 missed field goals.
- Points off turnovers and fast-break points.
- XXX — three consecutive defensive stops.
07
Play calls, and what they produced
Tag the set you called and the app tells you afterwards which calls actually scored, and against which defense.
- Play-set libraries per team — offense, defense, inbounds, and the defenses you face.
- Offensive analysis. Points per possession for each call, two-point, three-point and free-throw splits, percentage of possessions with a shot, multi-shot possessions, turnover rate.
- Filter by the opponent’s defense, so you can see which calls work against a zone and which against man.
- Defensive analysis. The same breakdown for each of your defensive sets.
08
Lineups and substitutions
- Five-player lineup plus-minus, with minutes and plus-minus per minute, sortable — live on the key metrics tab during the game, not just afterwards.
- Lineup data rolls up across the season.
- One-tap substitutions, plus saved units — starters and four more — that put a full five on the floor at once.
- Save Five captures the opponent’s lineup mid-game so you can restore it after a changeover.

Corrections
Nobody tracks a whole game without a mistake. None of them are permanent.
- Instant feedback bubbles let you fix a mis-entered play right away.
- Edit or reassign any play afterwards, with stats updating automatically.
- Bulk-replace a player across the whole game or specific stints, for when the wrong jersey was logged all night.
- A lineup checker finds and fixes events with duplicate players on the floor.
- One-tap recalculation of plus-minus and playing time.
- Continuous auto-save, so nothing is lost if the app closes.
12
Second-screen display
A second iPad for the bench or the stands, connected peer to peer over local wifi or Bluetooth. No internet, which most gyms do not have anyway.
- Read-only, so a stray tap from the bench cannot change anything.
- Tabs. Box score, shooting, key metrics, possession analysis, flow, foul trouble.
- Lineup plus-minus sits on the key metrics tab, beside possessions and points per possession, sortable by plus-minus, minutes, or plus-minus per minute.
- Viewers can filter the shot charts without affecting the person tracking.
13

Season rollups
Pick any subset of games — the last five, conference only, after a lineup change — and every number recalculates for just those.

- Aggregated box scores.
- Shooting by zone for the team or any player.
- Season key metrics and season lineup plus-minus.

15
Individual player reports
- One player, or the whole roster in one document with a page each.
- Season averages and totals.
- Game log with a box-score row per game, plus totals and averages.
- Shot charts for the full season and for each game, with a picker.

16
Teams and rosters
- Roster import from a photo or screenshot, or by scanning a paper roster with the camera, with an editable review before saving.
- Multiple teams, each with its own roster, colors, rules, play sets and lineups.
17
How it runs
- Voice is processed on the device through Apple’s speech framework. Audio is never sent to InGameInsights.
- The connection between iPads is local peer to peer, so it works in gyms with no internet.
